Featured MemberHere is where we showcase one of our members (to the delight of some and consternation of others). Get to know your fellow Fiber enthusiasts a little better. Find Previous Member Bios on the Guild Members page. Maureen HarveySomething clicked in Maureens mind when she and her family went to The Kansas City Renaissance Festival and visited with those who were manning the K.C. Weavers booth. This experience was followed by coming to our monthly Guild meetings even though she lived, and still does, 60 miles south of KC at rural Kincaid, KS. She relates that she knew very little about weaving, but has been interested in Fiber Arts even as a small child. Her interests are varied and she is always eager to try a new art process of some sort. She learned to weave from books in Libraries and from Members of our Guild. At one time Maureen had 300 sheep. Being a full-time Shepherdess left her little time for spinning and dyeing, where her talent lay. Now her sheep are in the care of her sister-in-law. Maureen and Marci Blank have had their own booth at the KC Renaissance Festival under the name Wolf in Sheeps Clothing. Her yarn, woven items, and fleeces are always found at the Creative Hand Sales. She participates at KAWS gatherings, at Eclectics in KCMO, Pheonix in Lawrence, Clayworks in Newton, KS and other Fiber Festivals. She is one busy lady! from Maureen- Now when our children are grown, my husband Keith and I ride our horses as much as possible, even on camping excursions. I suspicion she has a drop spindle in her saddle bag. - Maxine Erickso |
