We Meet Monthly 

We meet monthly on the second Thursday at 10 a.m. at Westwood City Hall, 4700 Rainbow, Westwood, KS. See the Program Schedule below for more information. The meeting schedule is:

  • 10:00 Regular Meeting

  • 10:30 Show & Tell & Treats

  • 11:30 Program

  • 12:30 Cleanup

A different program is presented at each meeting and designed to broaden our artistic skills and enrich our creative efforts.

August

  • Eileen Bobowski, Executive Director of The Sewing Labs, will provide an overview of the organization what they offer to the community. Eileen has a life-long enthusiasm for sewing and is excited about growing and serving The Sewing Labs’
    mission to teach the legacy of sewing for employment, entrepreneurship, and enrichment.

  • Board member nominating committee is formed.

September

  • We will watch a video by Henry and Roy Clemes, of Clemes and Clemes Inc.  on fiber prep and spinning for weaving. The Clemes are a father and son duo making innovative, generational fiber art equipment in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1970.  In addition to making simple, efficient, graceful, and durable fiber art equipment, they regularly consult and instruct spinners, felters, fiber producers, and professional fiber artists on fiber preparation for hand spinning. https://clemes.com/

  • Member challenge: Weavers Guild Bingo card results and prizes awarded. 

  • Board member nominations published in newsletter.

November

  • Textiles from Around the World - We are looking for members who own a textile that is unique to another country and would like to give a short presentation on how it was made and any cultural significance.

  • Board member elections.

 

December

  • Holiday party and gift exchange with a "mug rug" theme.
